Reviewed By: Herr Mike Style: Pale Ale State/Country: Maryland ABV: 5.5% Serving Type: 12 oz Look: 9 Cloudy amber color, off whitehead fades quick, spotty lacing Smell: 8 Floral, pine, grass, sweet Taste: 8 Bread, toffee, caramel, grass, earthy, honey Mouthfeel: 8 Medium with low carbonation Drinkability: 8 Like most Pale Ales, I could down a few. Overall Score: 8.2 Value: 9 Cost/12 oz serving: $1.67 Overall Impression: This was one of the first Flying Dog brews I ever drank as a wee lad and it is a good intro beer for newbies. When I was young I would buy these beers because of the funky artwork. Then as your palate (and you) matures, you realize this beer was more than a cool label. Unlike the Jim Steinman album (yeah, I'm that old) I bought for the cover art and found out the record sucked!

It may have been the rose hips that added the extra bite which was evident as the beer warmed up. It wasn't my favorite Sierra Nevada IPA, but I still give it a hoppy thumbs up!

This is lighter in spice but has nice body to it. Yes I'll have another. Overall Score: 8.4 Value: 9 Cost/12 oz serving: 1.96 Overall Impression: This big fatty pumpkin hippo is a winner. Nice price too.

I could only drink one of these as a dessert beer. Overall Score: 8.2 Value: 9
Cost/12 oz serving: $1.44
Overall Impression: I had this beer years ago when it was brewed and aged on a bed of chocolate. The beer then had a richer chocolate flavor to it. Now it tastes more like chocolate syrup was added to it. It's still a beer that you must try at least once.
