A little hot on the finish. Overall Score: 8.4 Value: 8 Cost/12 oz serving: $3.75 Overall Impression: This is one heavyweight barleywine. Tasty but very boozy and some heat. One and done Overall Score: 7.8 Value: 8 Cost/12 oz serving: $5.99 Overall Impression: I love Founders but I must say I was a little disappointed in this beer after all the hype it gets. Not much depth to it considering it's barrel aged for a year. I just kept getting a lot of burnt notes. As far as a coffee stout there wasn't much coffee going on. I much prefer their Imperial Stout and even the Breakfast Stout over this. I really wanted to like this beer but it was a miss for me.
Reviewed By: Herr Mike Style: Coffee State/Country: Delaware ABV: NA Serving Type: 8 oz Look: 8 Looks like coffee Smell: 8 Smells like coffee Taste: 8 Not a strong coffee taste but not as bitter as I would think Mouthfeel: 7 Thin with no carbonation Drinkability: 8 I could drink this with a little sweetener to get a caffeine fix Overall Score: 7.8 Value: Cost/8 oz serving: $ NA Overall Impression: I'm not a huge coffee drinker although I like coffee stouts. I thought this would be very bitter considering both coffee and hops are. To my surprise the coffee was pretty smooth drinking it black with nothing in it. A little Splenda and it was more enjoyable to drink. This was a collaboration brew between The Point Coffee House & 16 Mile Brewery in Delaware. For more info (302) 260-9734
